Rising Star Oliver Solberg Secures WRC Rally1 Debut with Toyota in Estonia

Oliver Solberg will make a return to the World Rally Championship top tier at Rally Estonia this month after being handed a drive by Toyota, replacing Sebastien Ogier.

The 23-year-old Solberg was the current WRC2 points leader and had initially planned to compete in the WRC2 class driving the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, but will now be driving Toyota’s Rally1 car alongside full-time team drivers.

Solberg expressed his excitement for the opportunity to compete in the Rally1 car, thanking the team for their trust and support as he returns to the top tier after his last appearance in a Rally1 car in 2022.

In preparation for the rally, Solberg and his co-driver will test the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 for the first time to familiarize themselves with the car’s performance and aerodynamics ahead of the event.

Despite the short timeframe before the rally, Solberg aims to focus on thorough preparation and familiarization with the new car to ensure a comfortable and successful performance in Estonia, prioritizing gaining experience and seat time in Rally1.
