This weekend Franco Colapinto will compete in his first grand prix since Abu Dhabi last year, having taken Jack Doohan’s race seat at Alpine. Any connection between Oakes’s departure and his brother’s legal issues is speculative. The turbulent environment at Alpine does not deter James Vowles, who believes Colapinto can thrive in such conditions. Despite shifting teams from Williams, Colapinto has a ‘window’ of five races to prove his worth at Alpine. Vowles is optimistic about Colapinto’s future in the team and sees it as his best chance to secure a permanent racing seat in the upcoming seasons.
