The NASCAR Xfinity field in Mexico City will see an increase to 40 entries, with two extra grid spots being added to accommodate the larger field.
These additional grid spots will have specific conditions: the teams occupying them will not be eligible for prize money and will not receive points for their finish positions, raising the finishing point for all other competitors.
However, if one of these entries manages to win the race, the second-place car will not inherit the playoff benefits typically associated with a victory.
This departure from the regular rules is exclusive to the Mexico race and differs from the Open Exemption Provisional rule, which is utilized for outstanding talents like Helio Castroneves, allowing non-NASCAR figures to participate in select events.
With these changes, the Xfinity race in Mexico is poised to feature the largest field since the 2021 season, marking a significant event in NASCAR’s history at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
