The Aston Martin F1 team has officially launched its driver academy, with Mari Boya from Spain’s FIA Formula 3 being the inaugural recruit, boasting a record of three-time Spanish karting champion.
Boya will receive comprehensive support from Aston Martin as he progresses through the F1 feeder series ladder, in what the team describes as a holistic development program.
The newly established driver academy mirrors the similar initiatives by other F1 teams, focusing on talent identification and nurturing from karting onwards, and building on the team’s existing driver development system led by F2’s Jak Crawford.
Aston Martin’s Team Principal, Andy Cowell, expressed delight in welcoming Boya to the program, emphasizing his talent, well-rounded skills, and the team’s commitment to shaping him into a top-level racer.
Boya shared his excitement and gratitude at joining the prestigious Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team Driver Academy, aiming to absorb knowledge, contribute, and showcase his potential while experiencing the unique environment at AMR Technology Campus.
