A New Era in Racing: Aston Martin’s F1 Driver Academy Unveils its First Rising Star

The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has launched its own driver academy and Spain’s FIA Formula 3 driver Mari Boya is the first recruit. Boya is a three-time Spanish karting champion and will receive support from Aston Martin through a comprehensive development programme as he progresses in the F1 feeder series ladder. The newly designed driver academy aims to identify and assist young talent, from karting level up, similar to other Formula 1 teams, and is based on the team’s existing driver development programme which includes F2 frontrunner Jak Crawford.

Aston Martin team principal Andy Cowell expressed his excitement about welcoming Mari to the new programme, highlighting Mari’s talent, speed, determination, and well-rounded skillset in motorsport. The goal is to nurture Boya’s development in various areas such as racecraft, technical feedback, media presence, fitness, and personal growth to prepare him for top-level racing demands. The launch of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team Driver Academy signifies the team’s commitment to identifying, supporting, and cultivating exceptional driving talent for the future. Boya shared his enthusiasm for joining the academy, calling it a dream come true and an opportunity to learn from a team with high ambitions in Formula 1.

Boya, competing for Campos Racing, sporting Aston Martin branding on his equipment, is currently 13th in the Austria F3 standings, with one podium finish in Monaco and eyeing his best season result yet. His association with Aston Martin and the AMR Technology Campus marks a significant milestone in his career as he looks forward to continued growth and success in the sport.
