Reviving the Past: A Retro Twist on Modern Sportscars to Boost WEC Excitement

The new Le Mans Legends Series, created by Peter Auto, will feature LMP1, LMP2 prototypes, and GT cars from the mid-2010s, supporting rounds of the upcoming World Endurance Championship season.

Expected to see participation from a variety of machinery, including LMP2 cars as recent as 2016, the series aims to appeal to a younger generation fascinated by more modern cars.

This modern series follows the Endurance Racing Legends category for pre-2005 machines, catering to the timeless appeal and iconic status of cars like the Ferrari F430, Pescarolo, and more recent models such as the Peugeot 908 and Audi LMP1s.

In addition to WEC rounds, the Le Mans Legends Series will feature at the Le Mans Classic as an annual event, alternating between the Le Mans Classic Heritage and Legend events each year, with a focus on pre-1975 and newer machinery, respectively.

The announcement also introduces a new GT3 Revival Series collaboration between Peter Auto and SRO, allowing GT3 cars built between 2006 and 2013 to compete in this exciting new venture.
