Revitalizing Retro: A Futuristic Twist on Classic Sportscars for WEC

The new Le Mans Legends Series will feature LMP1 and LMP2 prototypes alongside GT cars from the mid-2010s, supporting rounds of the upcoming World Endurance Championship season. Organised by Peter Auto, the series will see a variety of machinery participating, including LMP2 cars from as recent as 2016. The aim is to cater to a younger audience interested in modern cars, like the Ferrari F430, Pescarolo, Peugeot 908, and iconic Audis and Corvettes.

In addition to WEC events, the Le Mans Legends Series will also be part of the annual Le Mans Classic, with two alternating formats focusing on different eras – the Heritage events for pre-1975 cars and the Legend events for newer machinery. The concept is to provide more track time for gentlemen drivers and create distinctive atmospheres for each event, with a nod to vintage endurance legends and more dynamic racing.

Details on the new series and its ties with SRO for a GT3 Revival Series will be unveiled at this year’s Le Mans Classic, with races planned for GT3 cars built between 2006 and 2013. The collaboration aims to offer a fresh perspective on historic racing and engage enthusiasts across different eras of motorsport.
