Powerful Performance: Lucas Auer Triumphs at DTM Lausitzring Opener to Outshine Competitors

Lucas Auer secured his second win of the DTM season by dominating the race at Lausitzring, with Maro Engel finishing in second place.

Rene Rast impressively climbed from fifth on the grid to secure the final podium spot for Schubert BMW, followed by Jules Gounon, Marco Wittmann, and Thomas Preining.

Auer led the race right from the start, while there was chaos in the midfield with incidents involving several drivers such as Morris Schuring and Luca Engstler.

After a safety car period, Auer successfully defended his lead against Engel, Rast, and Feller, with Auer eventually sealing the victory after a brief challenge from Engel who managed to perform an overcut on Auer.

Feller experienced a mechanic issue meaning Auer was able to maintain his lead to the end of the race, regaining the championship lead in the process.

Jack Aitken finished seventh, Ayhancan Guven celebrated his first DTM win, and the top 10 was completed by Ben Dorr and Ben Green. The second race at Lausitzring will feature mandatory two pitstops per driver on Sunday at 1:30pm local time.
