Mercedes Formula 1 boss Toto Wolff criticized Red Bull for protesting George Russell’s Canadian Grand Prix victory and labeled it “embarrassing”. Even though Russell claimed his first win of the season, Red Bull protested against alleged infractions during the late safety car period. Wolff expressed his disappointment at the delay caused by the protests and deemed Red Bull’s actions as petty and small-minded. He highlighted that victory should be determined on track and saw the protest as unnecessary. The FIA dismissed Red Bull’s claim, stating that Russell’s actions were within the regulations, and refused to penalize him. Red Bull boss Christian Horner defended their decision to protest, stating it was their right to do so in such circumstances.
