Oliver Bearman has been given a 10-place grid penalty for disregarding red flags during the Formula 1 British Grand Prix’s third free practice session, where he crashed in the pitlane. The incident occurred as Bearman lost control of his Haas and hit the wall while pitting for a red flag caused by Gabriel Bortoleto’s crash. Bearman’s crash led to significant damage to his car’s nose and forced other drivers to take evasive action. The FIA found Bearman in violation of F1’s sporting regulations and the International Sporting Code for not driving slowly during red flag periods. As a result, Bearman will drop 10 places on the grid for the British Grand Prix and receive four penalty points, bringing his total to eight. Bearman had faced a similar penalty in Monaco for overtaking under red flags during FP2, and the incident at Silverstone led to the session being red-flagged due to debris from his car.
