MotoGP Malaysian GP: Bagnaia beats title rival Martin to pole in thrilling qualifying
Bagnaia and Martin are separated by just 13 points before this afternoon’s sprint race at the Sepang International Circuit, setting up a crucial qualifying session on Saturday morning. Martin, from Pramac, initially looked poised to secure a third consecutive pole position, but Bagnaia responded with a fast lap to snatch pole by a mere 0.058 seconds. Martin’s crash left him in second place, while Ducati’s Enea Bastianini secured a front-row start. Ducati dominated the Q2 segment, with Alex Marquez and Luca Marini setting the initial pace before Martin’s impressive lap. Despite encountering a crash during his final flier, Bagnaia held on to take his seventh pole of the season. Martin and Bastianini completed the front row, with Alex Marquez leading row two.
