MotoGP Catalan GP: Espargaro defeats Bagnaia in sprint, Quartararo 18th
One year after a disappointing race on his home soil, where he miscounted laps and lost a podium, Espargaro redeemed himself by beating world champion Bagnaia by just under two seconds. Espargaro was strong throughout the weekend at Barcelona and took the lead on lap seven, comfortably pulling away from Bagnaia. Bagnaia managed to fend off Vinales to secure second place by a mere 0.051 seconds. Meanwhile, Espargaro’s teammate Martin slotted into third initially but slipped back to fifth. Despite losing out to Espargaro, Bagnaia’s championship lead has extended to 66 points.
