Max Verstappen has raised concerns that Lewis Hamilton may face a grid penalty for obstructing him during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix in Formula 1. Verstappen encountered interference from Hamilton while approaching Massenet during Q1, causing him to abandon his lap due to the blind corners on the circuit. Both drivers and their team representatives were summoned by the FIA race stewards immediately after qualifying, hinting at a potential penalty for Hamilton. Despite the incident, Verstappen clarified that Hamilton was not at fault for the near-miss, attributing it to a team error in communication. Red Bull struggled in qualifying at Monaco due to a lack of grip in low-speed corners, a longstanding weakness on bumpy circuits for the team, leaving them out of contention for a competitive position on the grid.
