Jimmie Johnson, a four-time Coca-Cola 600 winner, saw his race cut short on Sunday night after just 112 laps out of 400. He crashed early in the second stage, becoming the first casualty of NASCAR’s longest race. The No. 84 Legacy Motor Club Toyota’s spin in Turn 4 triggered a wreck involving Connor Zilisch and Cole Custer. Despite being a NASCAR Hall of Famer making his 700th career start, Johnson’s day ended prematurely. Reflecting on his mistake, Johnson admitted to reacting improperly due to the unfamiliar traffic situations with the car. Although disappointed with his own exit, he commended the performance of the cars he co-owns, Nos. 42 and 43, in the race. Johnson will officially finish 40th unless post-race disqualifications occur, capping off his second start of the year following the Daytona 500 where he placed an impressive third.
