Before filming the F1 movie, Brad Pitt attended the closed drivers’ briefing at the British Grand Prix in 2023 in Silverstone to start production. During an interview with GQ, Pitt told the drivers, “if we’re ever in the way, just tell us to f**k off.”
Pitt and Damson Idris trained in France and the UK, surprising the F1 world by standing next to real drivers on the grid during the national anthem. However, filming was halted five days later due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Despite the setback, Pitt expressed his thrill of being at Silverstone and standing next to the real racers on the grid. He shared the disappointment of the strike but also found joy in getting more time behind the wheel of the modified Formula 2 cars.
Returning to Silverstone the next year, Pitt felt more confident and integrated into the sport, reflecting on the transformation from feeling humble to feeling at home on the track with a renewed sense of belonging. The F1 movie is set to hit cinemas next month.
