Formula E teams Envision, Mahindra pick drivers for Berlin/Spa WEC clash
The scheduling conflict between the Formula E event in Germany and the World Endurance Championship’s Six Hours of Spa has led to prioritization of the Belgium event by certain drivers. A proposal to allow WEC participants to also compete in Berlin on Sunday was not unanimously approved by Formula E teams. Envision Racing is introducing new drivers Joel Eriksson and Paul Aron to the team, with Eriksson being the reserve driver for Jaguar. Aron, who is currently second in the Formula 2 standings, will make his Formula E debut at the Misano E-Prix double-header. Jack Aitken, Envision’s reserve driver, will be replaced by Aron in Berlin due to conflicting commitments. Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries will miss the Berlin event, allowing ex-IndyCar driver Jordan King to make his Formula E debut as Mahindra’s reserve driver. Both new drivers are excited and eager to showcase their skills in the upcoming races.
