Ferrari will have "private discussion" over Sainz F1 damage compensation
Ferrari team principal, Frederic Vasseur, stated that he will have a private discussion with the stakeholders, including Liberty Media and F1, regarding seeking compensation for Carlos Sainz’s crash at the Vegas Grand Prix. Vasseur emphasized that the incident had financial and sporting implications, as well as affecting the team’s spare parts stock and budget. He also indicated that he would raise the issue of damage caused by similar incidents being placed outside the budget cap. Vasseur criticized the timing of the red flag, stating that there was a one-minute delay between the yellow flag and the red flag being shown after the stray cover was spotted. He also mentioned that the teams received no message informing them about debris on the track.
