Ferrari's Fuji qualifying struggles "a surprise", says Calado
In qualifying for the penultimate round of the season, Calado finished sixth in the best Ferrari car, 1.2 seconds behind the pole-sitting Toyota. Ferrari failed to have any cars in the top three for the first time this season, qualifying behind the two Porsches and the Chip Ganassi-run Cadillac. Calado expressed disappointment in the team’s struggles and felt they were further behind than expected compared to the previous round at Monza. Both Calado and teammate Nicklas Nielsen felt that Ferrari lacked pace and expected a difficult race. Ferrari’s performance and simulation chief cited small details, tyre preparation, and unpredictable weather conditions as factors contributing to their poor qualifying performance.
