Fernando Alonso clarified his “unluckiest driver in the world” comments during the Imola race and will not be racing in Formula 1’s Monaco Grand Prix with lucky charms.
Despite being without a point in 2025, Alonso qualified fifth for Aston Martin in Italy, hoping to break his unlucky streak for the season.
However, his race was ruined when a virtual safety car period and later a full safety car period disadvantaged him and his team.
Alonso expressed frustration, labeling himself as the “unluckiest driver in the world” but attributed his lack of luck to Aston Martin’s lack of competitiveness this season.
While frustrated about his public radio exchange, Alonso highlighted his successful career as evidence that he may not be as unlucky as he claimed during the race.
