Carson Hocevar, a 20-year-old driver from Portage, Michigan, will be making his second career Cup start at the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. In his previous Cup debut at World Wide Technology Raceway, he crashed after completing only 91 laps. Hocevar is currently a top contender for the Truck title this season with three wins and strong finishes in the playoff races. He sees this opportunity as a chance to gain experience in the Cup Series and help Legacy MC. Hocevar looks forward to working with crew chief Luke Lambert and having Erik Jones as his teammate, who is familiar with racing at Darlington. He had previously planned to drive for Spire Motorsports in the Xfinity Series but has decided to focus on the Cup race. Noah Gragson, the original driver for Legacy MC’s No. 42, was suspended by NASCAR, leading to Hocevar’s opportunity.
