Sebastian Vettel has announced that he will demo-run Ayrton Senna’s 1993 McLaren MP4/8 at this year’s Formula 1 Emilia Romagna
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s tragic accident at the Imola circuit, where he lost his life at the age of 34. Sebastian Vettel will honor the legendary Brazilian by driving the Ford V8-powered MP4/8 at Imola on May 19. Vettel expressed his admiration for Senna, not only for his exceptional driving skills but also for his compassion, on Instagram. The McLaren MP4/8, driven by Senna in 1993, showcased the technological advancements of that era in Formula 1. Despite challenges with engine changes, Senna’s skill behind the wheel led to memorable victories in the ’93 season. Senna’s untimely passing in 1994 left a void in the sport, but Vettel’s tribute at Imola aims to bring back the spirit of the racing icon 30 years later.
