The first practice session (FP1) was cut short after only eight minutes due to a loose drain cover on the Las Vegas street circuit. Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon experienced significant damage when their cars ran over a loose manhole cover, caused by concrete failure under the stresses of ground effect. The FIA has been inspecting the remaining manhole covers and has confirmed that on-track activity will resume at 2am local time, two hours later than planned. The third and final practice session will start as scheduled at 8:30pm local time on Friday.
