The WEC, in partnership with the FIA and ACO, has attracted several manufacturers to its Hypercar category, including Alpine, Ferrari, Peugeot, Porsche, and Toyota. Isotta Fraschini is joining Lamborghini Iron Lynx and Ferrari AF Corse as Italian marques in the WEC Hypercar field, and there are suggestions that Alfa Romeo may enter after ending their Formula 1 commitments in 2023. CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato expressed doubts about the economic viability of entering the WEC, citing the high costs involved. Alfa Romeo has a successful history at Le Mans and returning to sportscar racing is a potential focus for their future presence in motorsport. Their previous attempt to be an engine supplier to the Glickenhaus team fell through due to complications with power output limits. Alfa Romeo will need to find a way to fund their presence on the grid if they decide to enter.
