The newly resurfaced Laguna Seca witnessed impressive lap times on Friday afternoon, as Filipe Albuquerque in the Acura #10 secured the top spot with a lap time of 1:14.434. Philipp Eng in the BMW #24 GTP initially held the fastest lap time, finishing just 0.019 behind Albuquerque. Mathieu Jaminet of #6 Porsche Penske claimed the third fastest time, completing the most laps at 46 despite red flag interruptions. Jordan Taylor in the #40 Acura closely followed his teammate, separated by only 0.243 seconds after 40 laps. Jack Aitken in the Whelen Cadillac #31 suffered a crash at Turn 4, but still managed to post a competitive lap time of 1:14.734, rounding out the top five in the GTP class. In the GTD category, Seb Priaulx in the #77 Porsche 911 recorded the fastest time of 1:21.182, edging out Alexander Sims in the #3 Corvette by a small margin, while Nicky Catsburg and Philip Ellis also delivered strong performances.
