Racing Heartbreak: Valentino Rossi’s Le Mans Dream Crushed as No. 46 BMW is Forced to Retire

Valentino Rossi’s BMW was a strong contender for victory until being struck by technical issues.

Valentino Rossi’s attempt to secure a victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans was cut short when WRT had to retire the No. 46 BMW due to technical issues. The car, driven by Rossi, Kelvin van der Linde, and Ahmad Al-Harthy, led the LMGT3 division at one point but faced challenges as the race progressed.

After a strong start, the No. 46 BMW encountered an electrical issue that caused van der Linde to go off track and be stuck in the gravel trap. Despite initial repairs and a return to the race, the car had to retire after further issues arose.

The disappointment for WRT continued with their sister car, the No. 31 BMW, suffering damage after reportedly hitting a rabbit on track and losing several laps in the garage.

These setbacks marked a double blow for WRT and brought an end to Rossi’s bid for a breakthrough victory at Le Mans, adding to the team’s challenging outing at the endurance classic.
