Joe Roberts took back his Lusail lap record after a flurry of fast laps late in qualifying for the Moto2 Qatar Grand Prix before the session was ended prematurely by a red flag.
Joe Roberts secured his fourth pole position of the season in spectacular fashion at the Lusail track in Qatar. He managed to take over the top spot, despite fierce competition from Celestino Vietti, who missed out on pole by a mere 0.007 seconds. Aron Canet completed the front row in third place. Prior to qualifying, Fermin Aldeguer had been setting the pace in practice, but he could only manage fourth in qualifying. Sam Lowes finished in fifth place. Pedro Acosta, who had already clinched the championship, struggled in qualifying and ended up in seventh place. The session saw some surprising developments, including engine failure for Alex Escrig and a canceled lap for Alonso Lopez. Tony Arbolino also had a difficult qualifying session and could only manage eleventh place.
