After warning he only had the pace for 10th-15th place on Friday, Marc Marquez instead battled his way to a surprise fourth by the final corner of the Thai MotoGP Sprint.
Marc Marquez, the Repsol Honda rider, had a strong performance in the MotoGP race. Despite doubting his race pace, he managed to start in fifth place and battled with a group of riders. Marquez admitted that he did not expect such a result after struggling with his rhythm in practice and qualifying. He was able to overtake Aleix Espargaro on the final lap to secure fourth place. Marquez and the Honda team had been working on improving acceleration issues, focusing on stability during braking. He also benefited from using the slipstream of faster riders in qualifying.
