Joan Mir has reportedly “offered himself” to Gresini Ducati.
According to Carlo Pernat, a veteran paddock manager with ties to Gresini, the surprise option for the 2024 MotoGP grid is the coveted seat at Gresini, which is currently expected to be available due to Fabio di Giannantonio potentially being replaced. Joan Mir, the 2020 MotoGP champion, has expressed interest in this seat, despite experiencing difficulties this year at Repsol Honda, to the point where he considered retirement at the age of 25. Mir’s situation resembles what Alex Marquez went through last year, as Marquez, also struggling with Honda, made the decision to join a Ducati satellite team and found success. Mir may hope for a similar outcome, even if it means moving from a factory team to a satellite team. Honda has Iker Lecuona lined up as a straightforward replacement for Mir, should he choose to leave.
