Familiar name 'in discussions' to be title sponsor of Valentino Rossi's VR46
Mooney is expected to reduce its sponsorship for the VR46 premier-class project in 2024, following the absence of anticipated backing from Aramco last season. There have been rumors that eBay might step in as a potential replacement, however, Indonesian oil and gas giant Pertamina has also confirmed ongoing discussions with VR46 regarding sponsorship. Pertamina Lubricants vice president, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that there is a plan to become the main sponsor of VR46, but it has not yet been officially confirmed. VR46, the team running Ducati machinery, has had a successful season with their first MotoGP race wins by Marco Bezzecchi and a third-place ranking in the world championship. Luca Marini, Rossi’s brother, is currently sixth overall and obtained his first MotoGP podium finish at COTA, securing second place. The VR46 team is expected to maintain the same rider line-up for the next season, with Bezzecchi likely to decline offers from Pramac in order to continue with VR46 alongside Marini.
