Verstappen Reveals Insights from Nurburgring GT3 Test with Hermann: A Game-Changing Experience

Max Verstappen recently shared details about his GT3 test at Nurburgring’s Nordschleife, where he raced incognito as “Franz Hermann” during an official Nurburgring Endurance Series test. He drove Emil Frey Racing’s Ferrari 296 GT3, typically seen in DTM races, with his protege Thierry Vermeulen as part of the team.

Reports suggested that Verstappen set a new NLS GT3 lap record, clocking a faster time than Christian Krognes’ 7m49.578s. However, he clarified that his primary goal was to assist Emil Frey Racing and acclimate himself to possibly take part in the Nurburgring 24 Hours in the future.

Verstappen explained that using the pseudonym was to keep a low profile and assist the team without unnecessary distractions. He emphasized his passion for GT3 racing and mentioned preparing and gaining experience for potential future endeavors on the Nordschleife.

To compete in GT3 races on the Nurburgring, Verstappen would need a DMSB Permit and might have to progress through various categories unless exceptions are made. He underscored the importance of simulation training and track knowledge to adapt quickly during the actual test session.
