As a long-time Formula 1 fan, I entered a screening of F1: The Movie amid warnings that the film was not catered to existing fans, targeting a new audience, especially in the US, much like the success of Drive to Survive on Netflix.
With Brad Pitt as the lead playing race-for-cash driver Sonny Hayes, and support from Jerry Bruckheimer, Hans Zimmer, and Lewis Hamilton, the movie is expected to be a hit.
However, there are moments that might make die-hard fans cringe, as the film’s unique take on F1 may not align with the sport’s realism.
From controversial racing tactics to questionable technological advances, the film takes creative liberties that may not sit well with F1 purists.
While the star-studded cast adds glamor, F1 fans may find themselves torn between enjoying the spectacle and grappling with the deviations from reality.
