Unraveling the Mystery: Tsunoda’s Quest for Speed Unveiled in F1 Spanish GP Practice

Yuki Tsunoda expressed confusion over his slow pace in the Formula 1 practice sessions at the Spanish Grand Prix, stating he doesn’t understand why he’s lacking speed. Despite smooth sessions on Friday, Tsunoda felt his ultimate pace was insufficient and struggled to pinpoint the reason for it. He faced difficulties with sliding at both axles and was six tenths slower than teammate Max Verstappen in soft-tyre qualifying simulations.

Tsunoda admitted that while he made progress throughout the sessions, he couldn’t identify the exact limitations causing his slow performance. He acknowledged the need to improve but found it challenging to determine his balance issue. As he works to find a solution, Tsunoda expressed his struggle and the longer night ahead trying to address the problem.

On the other hand, Verstappen described his Friday as “OK” and felt a tentative sense of positivity compared to previous run-ins this season. While wanting more comfort from the car, he was content not to feel completely off pace after the opening sessions at the Spanish track. Verstappen emphasized the enjoyable driving experience but indicated the team still seeks improvement in car performance.
