Tragic Loss: Renowned Co-Driver’s Untimely Demise Shakes Racing Community

The British rallying community is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of co-driver Dai Roberts in an accident during the Jim Clark Rally.

Roberts, aged 39, was co-driving for James Williams when their Hyundai i20N Rally2 crashed on the Edrom stage while competing for the lead in the British Rally Championship.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, Roberts passed away from his injuries, while Williams sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in Edinburgh.

Following the incident, both the Jim Clark Rally and the Jim Clark Reivers Rally were canceled, as a mark of respect for Dai Roberts.

Dai Roberts was a well-loved and experienced co-driver, who previously suffered the loss of his younger brother Gareth (Jaffa) in a rallying accident in 2012.

His co-driving career was illustrious, partnering with top British drivers and competing in numerous rallies each year, showcasing his talent both in the navigator’s seat and behind the wheel of a Peugeot 205 GTI.

The rallying community, including Autosport, extends heartfelt condolences to Dai’s family and friends during this difficult time.
