The Untold Truth: Unraveling the Mystery Behind Button’s Departure from WEC After 2018 Shows

Jenson Button, the Cadillac driver for Jota, explained his decision not to continue in the World Endurance Championship initially due to the lack of manufacturer involvement.

He made his endurance racing debut in the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hours but faced challenges with an electronics issue in his BR Engineering BR1 car, leading to a substantial time deficit with his teammates.

Button participated in three more WEC rounds, achieving a podium in Shanghai before pausing until 2024 when he returned to Le Mans as part of the Garage 56 NASCAR program.

Despite enjoying the speed and downforce of LMP1 cars, Button decided to switch to the LMDh Cadillac V-Series.R, aiming to compete for wins in the Hypercar class with Jota.

In a memorable experience, Button drove a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with Hendrick Motorsports at Circuit de la Sarthe in 2023, surprising many with their competitiveness against GTE cars during the race.
