Race of my life: When Stewart won a third F1 title with his finest drive
During the race, my Tyrrell 006 car had a rear tyre deflate, and although I didn’t win, I finished fourth and broke the lap record multiple times. The pitstop to change the tyre took a long time, as we didn’t have the fast equipment they have today. Despite the setback, I fought back and started passing other drivers, even setting lap records. When I finished fourth, I wasn’t sure if I had won the championship, but the crowd mobbed me with excitement. It was a satisfying race for me, and Monza holds a special place for me as my first grand prix win came there in 1965.
