New documentary showcases Britain’s first Black, female race team owner

A new documentary featuring Britain’s first Black, female motorsports official, Carol Glenn, will premiere on sports broadcaster TNT. Directed by Daisy Ifama, the film titled Set Pace showcases Carol Glenn’s journey as she launches her new Formula Ford team, making her the country’s first woman of color to do so.

Set Pace is part of a new series of short films by TNT Sports Reframe the Game and the Warner Bros Discovery Access development program, aiming to highlight untold stories of women in sport. The documentary focuses on Glenn’s role as a trailblazer in motorsports and the creation of her team, Next Generation Racing.

Glenn, who has been in motorsport for 37 years, reflects on her journey as the first person of color in her field. She aims to pave the way for more diversity and representation in motorsports, emphasizing the importance of being a visible role model for Black and Brown communities.

The film follows Glenn as she manages her team during a race weekend in Silverstone, shedding light on the challenges and microaggressions she faces in the male-dominated industry. The documentary has received positive reviews, highlighting Glenn’s inspirational journey and her impact on the future of motorsports.
