Three-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner Andre Lotterer faced challenges getting up to speed with LMP2 machinery in his class debut for IDEC Sport. Lotterer drove the #18 ORECA-Gibson 07 as part of the team’s partnership with Genesis Magma Racing, set to enter Hypercar ranks next year. Teamed with rookies Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert after Logan Sargeant’s sudden departure. Despite struggling in qualifying, Lotterer praised the LMP2 car’s agility and speed compared to Hypercars. Lotterer acknowledged overdriving in qualifying due to unfamiliarity with the Goodyear tyres, focusing on improving his driving style for better performance. While disappointed with 14th place in qualifying, Lotterer remains optimistic about the race’s outcome, emphasizing grid order’s limited impact on the final result.
