McLaren’s Andrea Stella believes it’s “good news” that his team’s Formula 1 rivals are focused on incorrect reasons for their success, as McLaren has been dominating the sport for the past year following a significant upgrade package at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.
Snagging their first constructors’ title in 26 years last season, McLaren has continued its winning streak this year by securing five out of six races and establishing a substantial lead in the teams’ championship.
Despite facing rumors about their performance gains, McLaren’s cars have consistently passed the FIA inspections, with the governing body recently imposing stricter rules regarding wing flexing.
Stella dismissed the idea that McLaren’s success is solely due to their front wings, stating that focusing on alleged technical advantages distracts rivals from improving their own performance.
Even Red Bull’s Max Verstappen emphasized the importance of concentrating on their own car instead of worrying about McLaren’s advancements, acknowledging that the battle for the championship is becoming increasingly challenging due to McLaren’s strong performance on all types of tracks.
