Zak Brown believes Oscar Piastri will achieve the Formula 1 world championship with McLaren despite narrowly missing out to Lando Norris in the 2025 season finale in Abu Dhabi. McLaren had a close fight for the championship between their drivers, ultimately won by Norris with Piastri finishing just behind him and Max Verstappen in the standings.
The contrasting approaches of Red Bull and McLaren towards their drivers were highlighted in this battle, with McLaren maintaining equality between Norris and Piastri. Brown praised the growth of Norris since joining McLaren’s academy and expressed strong confidence in Piastri’s potential as a future world champion for the team.
Despite Piastri leading the championship for a large part of the season, a late-season dip in form allowed Norris to clinch the title. McLaren principal Andrea Stella also sees Piastri as a future world champion and praised his rapid learning and competitiveness throughout the season. Both Brown and Stella are proud of the achievements of their drivers and the team as a whole, expressing excitement for the future.
