Max Verstappen expressed his struggles during the Imola Formula 1 practice, mentioning being passed by the McLarens and the team’s lack of performance. Despite the upgrades brought by Red Bull, Verstappen was still behind McLaren’s pace-setting driver Oscar Piastri in Friday sessions. Verstappen noted the need for more work to improve corner balance and overall speed, as McLaren showed superiority over longer stints. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko acknowledged the team’s progress but highlighted McLaren’s continued advantage of around four tenths on the track. The team remains focused on qualifying performance and race strategy, with some positivity seen in Yuki Tsunoda’s progress compared to Max.
