Katherine Legge secures Indy 500 return at Dale Coyne Racing
Katherine Legge will be driving DCR’s Rick Ware Racing-partnered No. 51 Honda in her fourth attempt at the Indy 500, taking over from Colin Braun. In her most recent Indy 500 appearance last year, Legge set the fastest one-lap and four-lap qualification speeds for a woman in the event’s history, driving for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Legge, a regular in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with Gradient Racing Acura, previously raced for Coyne in the 2007 Champ Car season before the merge with the Indy Racing League. She achieved her best Indy 500 finish of 22nd in 2012 and will now carry primary sponsorship from e.l.f. Cosmetics for the upcoming race. Legge expressed her excitement and gratitude for e.l.f.’s support, emphasizing the empowerment of women in motorsports and acknowledging the pioneering efforts of women like Janet Guthrie. Team owner Dale Coyne welcomed Legge back to the team for the Indy 500, highlighting her successful career and the historic partnership with e.l.f. for the upcoming race.
