Flamboyant Flavio: Briatore Challenges Alpine’s Strategy for Rising F1 Star Colapinto

Alpine team leader Flavio Briatore contradicted his squad’s earlier announcement that Franco Colapinto would take over a race seat for the next five Formula 1 rounds starting from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.

The initial press release specifically stated the next five races would feature Colapinto, but Briatore stated there was no set limit on his races, emphasizing the need for speed, avoiding crashes, and scoring points to secure a permanent slot.

Regarding the team dynamics, Briatore clarified that his relationship with former principal Oliver Oakes was positive, denying any rumors of conflicts, and emphasized the team’s unity despite changes in organizational roles.

Briatore, now overseeing the Alpine F1 team in the absence of Oakes, humorously downplayed his temporary position by stating that although he’s in charge for now, he needs to assess the team principal role, highlighting his wealth of experience in leading successful teams in the past.

The future direction of the team will depend on Briatore’s evaluation, with racing director Dave Greenwood handling administrative duties to ensure operational continuity.
