Diving into the Driving Force: Laurent Mekies, Red Bull’s Visionary Successor to Christian Horner in F1

Laurent Mekies, born in Tours, France on 28 April 1977, became the second team boss in the history of the Red Bull Formula 1 team.

Starting his career in motorsport over 25 years ago at Asiatech in Formula 3, he then transitioned to F1 with Arrows before moving to Minardi as a race engineer.

Promoted to chief engineer at Toro Rosso in 2006, Mekies spent almost a decade there before joining the FIA as safety director and deputy race director in 2014.

After five years at Ferrari in various roles, Mekies returned to Red Bull as the team principal of Racing Bulls in 2024, taking charge of a team with significant challenges and responsibilities.

His extensive experience and proven managerial skills make him a valuable asset at Red Bull, leading the team into a new era in Formula 1.
