Details of McLaren’s DTM project with Dorr Group revealed
At the beginning of February, the ADAC announced McLaren as the seventh manufacturer for 2024, but withheld details about their program in the series. Dorr Group, McLaren’s largest dealer network owner in Europe, will run two 720S GT3 Evos with Clemens Schmid and Ben Dorr. Both cars will predominantly sport McLaren’s papaya orange livery. McLaren briefly entered the GT3 era in 2021 but Dorr’s program is the first full season entry. Project 1 was an option for McLaren, but after their bankruptcy, Dorr remains the sole contender. They have recruited mechanics from Project 1 and Axel Funke to manage the team. The DTM program aims to run for at least three years with Schmid and Ben Dorr as drivers. Timo Glock considered a comeback, but sponsorship hurdles led to talks falling through.
