As Red Bull’s reserve drivers and junior talents gain attention amid Max Verstappen’s 11 penalty points, it has come to light that Red Bull requested a superlicence exemption for Arvid Lindblad.
This request, emphasized by Helmut Marko, was made independently of Verstappen’s penalties and is set for discussion at the upcoming FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in Macau.
Lindblad, a Formula 2 competitor meeting all superlicence prerequisites, has amassed qualifying points in junior series, awaiting his 18th birthday to formally acquire it.
This potential exemption for Lindblad mirrors a previous case involving Mercedes and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, leading to a recent FIA Code amendment benefiting standout young talents.
With his strong Formula 2 debut performance, Lindblad could be a valuable resource for Red Bull should Verstappen’s situation necessitate a driver change.
Considering the FIA’s upcoming decision and Lindblad turning 18 soon, Red Bull may secure an additional capable driver option moving forward.
