Alonso frustrated by "anonymous" F1 Italian GP performance
Despite knowing that Monza wouldn’t suit their car’s strengths, the Aston Martin team struggled in qualifying, with Alonso starting in 10th place, his lowest grid position of the season. In the race, Alonso could only manage a ninth-place finish, matching his worst result of the year. He acknowledged the need to learn from this race and improve for the future, particularly in understanding what to do differently on this type of circuit. Alonso found the race mentally and physically demanding due to the low grip and tricky handling of the car. He expressed frustration with the lack of competitiveness but remained focused on extracting the maximum performance from the package they had. Alonso emphasized the importance of identifying weaknesses, improving the efficiency of the car, and bringing new ideas to enhance their performance going forward. Despite the challenging race, he acknowledged the overall progress of the team and the good gap in terms of points compared to their competitors, but recognized the need to bounce back in the next race in Singapore.
