Red Bull faces a mighty fight to be in contention for the major honours in Monaco this weekend.
Former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer believes Red Bull’s only advantage heading into the Monaco Grand Prix weekend is the changes in compliance they made between the Sprint and qualifying sessions. The RB22 struggled in Canada, with Max Verstappen finishing as the fourth-best car, albeit with some luck. Verstappen had concerns about the chassis handling bumps and kerbs which are crucial in Monaco for qualifying performance. Palmer sees hope in Red Bull’s improved sector times and compliance, especially in the first sector. Fellow pundit James Hinchcliffe added that Verstappen’s podium in Canada had asterisks due to external factors, and doubts the team’s competitiveness against Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari in Monaco.
