Max Verstappen put the Red Bull-liveried Mercedes into the lead of the Nurburgring 24 Hours in his first two stints.

Starting from fourth, Dani Juncadella quickly moved up to challenge the polesitting Red Bull-backed Team Abt Lamborghini.

Juncadella had slight contact with the Lamborghini, leading to a rear-left puncture for the Lamborghini.

Despite some challenging moments, including a jump start penalty for another competitor, Juncadella handed over to Verstappen around the one-hour mark.

Verstappen faced some incidents in his first stint but regained ground with impressive moves, ultimately taking the net lead of the race.

By the time Verstappen handed over to Jules Gounon at the three and a half hour mark, the team was leading by just over 20 seconds.
