Defying Doubt: Lewis Hamilton’s Quest for Formula 1 Glory Amidst Bleak Forecasts

Lewis Hamilton has been a renewed force in F1 this season, but Ralf Schumacher does not believe he can beat Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc.

Ralf Schumacher believes Lewis Hamilton should consider retirement despite his improved form this season at Ferrari, citing age as a decisive factor in his battle against teammate Charles Leclerc and his championship aspirations. Schumacher stated on Sky Sports Germany’s Backstage Boxengasse podcast that Hamilton has shown better shape in 2026 but may struggle against Leclerc in the long term.

Schumacher also suggested that veterans like Fernando Alonso should make way for younger talent in Formula 1, emphasizing the need for a generational shift. He acknowledged his viewpoint might be controversial but stood by his opinion that Hamilton and Alonso should step aside.

While praising Hamilton’s recent performances, Schumacher reiterated his belief that it’s time for the British driver to consider retiring and give younger drivers like Oliver Bearman a chance. He highlighted Bearman as a potential successor at Ferrari, stating that it would be a challenge for Leclerc if Bearman were to step in.
