Peugeot’s High-Octane Ambition: Revving Up for Le Mans Hypercar Domination in WEC

Peugeot plans to build a new Le Mans Hypercar as part of its long-term commitment to the World Endurance Championship. The French manufacturer has engaged in discussions with the rulemakers, ACO and FIA, to replace the 9X8 and aim for a debut around 2027. Peugeot’s CEO, Alain Favey, confirmed the brand’s participation in WEC for the long haul. Stellantis group motorsport boss, Jean-Marc Finot, indicated a likely continued presence in the series post-2026. Furthermore, Peugeot aims for sustained improvement and eventual success in the championship, citing a gradual approach to reaching performance expectations. The brand remains in the process of enhancing the current 9X8 model within the existing regulations, while keeping an eye on potential future changes.
